Comilla (; Bengali: কুমিল্লা, Bengali pronunciation: [kumilla]), officially spelled Cumilla, is a metropolis on the banks of the Gomti River in eastern Bangladesh. Comilla was one of the cities of ancient Bengal. It was once the capital of Tripura kingdom.

Cumilla is on the Dhaka-Chittagong (N1) Hwy and about 2.5 hours or 100 km away from Dhaka.
This urbanized center in Chittagong Division has its origins as part of an ancient state called Samatata during the 1st Millenium CE, then fell under the dominion of kings and rulers like Bengal Jagat Manikya until the East India Company assumed control in 1765. From there, it was involved in logistical facets of WWII as well as events pertaining to the Bengali liberation in 1971. A WWII cemetery lies to the northwest where there are graves of Allied forces members as well as some Japanese.
