The World's Best Beach — Certified! Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales has been voted the world's number one beach multiple times. The Turks and Caicos combine this extraordinary 19km stretch of powdery coral sand with spectacular wall diving, rock iguana encounters, and a humpback whale migration channel.
Providenciales (Provo) has a full luxury resort strip on Grace Bay (Amanyara, Palms, Grace Bay Club). Salt Cay and Grand Turk have small boutique guesthouses. North Caicos has eco-lodges. Prices are premium — TCI is among the Caribbean's most expensive destinations.
Walk Grace Bay's world-beating beach at sunrise before the day-trippers arrive, dive the Northwest Point Marine National Park's extraordinary wall (65m sheer coral drop), whale-watch in the Mouchoir Passage (humpbacks, February–April), and snorkel the spectacular JoJo the dolphin who lives freely in Provo's waters.
The Turks and Caicos has 35 protected marine areas. The Rock Iguana (Cyclura carinata) is critically endangered — the TCI Conch Farm on Provo also runs iguana conservation alongside its commercial operations.
Queen conch is the cultural centrepiece of TCI cooking — conch fritters, cracked conch, conch salad and conch chowder are on every menu. Try fresh grilled wahoo, lobster in season (August–April only), and wash it down with a frozen rum punch overlooking Grace Bay.
TCI Music and Cultural Festival (November) brings soca, rake-and-scrape (TCI's unique string-instrument folk music) and Junkanoo to Grand Turk. Provo Water Sports Festival (spring) includes paddleboard races and kite competitions.
Columbus Day (October 12) is celebrated in Grand Turk with historical re-enactments commemorating Columbus' first landfall — strongly believed by many historians to have been San Salvador (Grand Turk's alternative name). Rake and scrape music festivals occur year-round in community halls.
No mandatory vaccinations. Tap water is safe on Provo; bottled recommended on outer islands. Hurricane season June–November is significant — the TCI has been hit by multiple major storms. Healthcare at Provo's Cheshire Hall Medical Centre is adequate; serious cases to Miami.
Digicel and Flow offer 4G on Providenciales. Outer islands have patchy or satellite coverage. Resort Wi-Fi is reliable and fast on Provo.
